A Place to Listen

Throughout their first architectural design studio, students engaged with the fundamentals of design: space, order, and material. Their final semester project took these ideas and applied them to a space for entry, movement and a human-scaled space to listen. Each student started by selecting a song that had special meaning to them, and by engaging in critical analysis of the rhythm, tones, gestures, and contours of the song, along with textual, and basic site and program analysis, the students created a place to listen that embodied the feeling and meaning of the song.
